Kate Nash is maybe the best pop singer to first get their start through Myspace. After first gaining an army of fans, Nash unleashed her debut album, Made of Bricks, at the age of 20 in 2007. And after spending a couple years laying low, Nash has finally returned with a darker follow-up, My Best Friend Is You, earlier this week. If you haven’t had occasion to listen to it yet please allow me to urge you to get on it. Nash’s bratty lyric style continues in abundance for this record, but this is not the Kate Nash you remember. If you’re expecting more sweet, Lily Allen-esque pop songs there are some here. With songs like the catchy first track “Paris” and the album’s lead single “Do Wah Doo,” Nash’s album blazes with the sunny piano melodies, hand claps, and blaring horns that colored her first album. Although, it seems... Continue Reading

Living alone in NYC was one of the best experiences I’d ever had in my life, and I wouldn’t change a thing. And if anyone asked me to only name ONE of my favorite NYC moments, it’s got to be the day my friend Zowa (Ellie) and I stood in line in the middle of winter, freezing every part of our body to get tickets to Spring Awakening. As some of you may know, Tom and I are trying to buy our first home. And let me tell you, buying your first home is hard! It just takes so much time and work, and worst of all is the heartache! No seriously! It really is heart-breaking and torturous! I mean as much as I love looking at potential homes, and imagining what it would be like to live in them…it is just torture. The process just hurts by brain! The decisions, the things we need to take into consideration (i.e, if we can afford it, is it the... Continue Reading
