Lea Michele & Jonathan Groff – Glee : Hell-O

Living alone in NYC was one of the best experiences I’d ever had in my life, and I wouldn’t change a thing. And if anyone asked me to only name ONE of my favorite NYC moments, it’s got to be the day my friend Zowa (Ellie) and I stood in line in the middle of winter, freezing every part of our body to get tickets to Spring Awakening.

It was crazy. I vaguely remember Zowa saying something about needing to write a paper on a Broadway show for her class at St Johns, and me quickly going…owh awesome…we should see Spring Awakening! I really wanted to go see it; only because I had read somewhere about how Duncan Sheik was involved with the music for the show and I jumped at ANY excuse to check it out. I had NO IDEA who was in it, how awesome it would be and how much I would love it as a whole. I just wanted to check out a Broadway show that featured music by Duncan Sheik (hahaha).

Anyways, the next thing I knew…we had hatched a plan (or maybe I did) where we would wake up at like 3am and take the subway from Forest Hills (where Zora lived) to Times Square. Obviously not even giving much thought about how COLD it would be. And…boy it was COLD. I think it was one of the coldest mornings ever! So there we were in line at 4am freezing our butts off just so we could get student discount tickets! LOL. Yeah…there was a reason to all this insanity. We wanted cheap student tickets to see the show! Hey Broadway tickets are expensive and it wasn’t like I was working back then, or at least not full-time! I was strapped for cash!

So yeah, Zora and I stood in line from around 4am-11am with a whole bunch of other students, who I found out were fellow NYU Tisches.…I guess we Tisches will do anything for the arts? LOL. So after close to 7 hours… we finally got the tickets. They were standing room tickets…but it was worth it.

Spring Awakening was one of THE BEST Broadway Shows I had EVER seen. I loved it, and I guess it was good we got standing room tickets because I remember how the music and cast made us want to dance along. That was the first time I had seen and heard Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff and their chemistry was undeniable.

So yesterday’s Glee episode made me very happy. The minute Jonathan come on screen I was giddy with excitement!

Below’s a clip and also full length audio of them singing their version of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. It can make your heart MELT!

Owh and I have to also say I am loving the fact that Idina Menzel is also guest starring in Glee! Loving this show more and more!

I’m a interactive media developer/designer, and new mom to a gorgeous little boy named Liam Ayden Sparrow, who cooks to de-stress and relax. I’m originally from a little peninsula in the South East Asia region of the world called, Malaysia. Although I’ve moved a lot in my life, Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, Australia, Georgia, NYC, and finally back to Chicago; one thing remains the same. The food, because I cook. I grew up around amazing cooks. My mom and my late grandma, and although during my teen years I despised helping my mom in the kitchen, once I grew up and had to moved to a different country for studies, and didn’t have my mom to make meals for me, I realized how lucky I was to have at least some basic cooking skills! And although my mom never really allowed me to help her make anything (I was mostly there to help clean and prep) I did always pay attention to what she was doing in the kitchen. Over a few more years living overseas, and now being married, I’ve had plenty of time to practice my culinary skills and I’ve managed to teach myself a thing or two. I experiment, and create, and I think that’s the best way to learn…anything really.
