Baby Elijah

I am so horrible at writing now, and maintaining a blog for longer than a week seems like an impossible feat after having a kid. Well now I have 2 kids. Elijah Jaffar Sparrow was born July 27th 2015. This post is…of course late. 7 weeks late to be exact. I have 2 boys now. Not something I had pictured for myself. To be honest I never really pictured myself being a mom. I never really thought about it much. Well not until I got married, even then I didn’t immediately think of kids, not like some women do at least. Beef Rendang

Ingredients 2 cups shredded coconut to make the kerisik (toasted coconut) 2 teaspoons tamarind pulp (soaked in some warm water for the juice and discard the 1 1/4 pounds beef stew meat (or boneless beef short ribs), cut into 1 inch cubes 6 kaffir lime leaves (very finely sliced) 1 cinnamon stick (about 2-inch long) 3 cloves 3 star anise 3 cardamom pods 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 cups coconut milk 8 cups water Spice Paste (blended) 20 shallots 2 tablespoons coriander 1 tablespoon fennel 1 tablespoon cumin 1 tablespoon pepper 3 star anise 5 cloves garlic 15 inches dried chilies (soaked warm water and seeded) 1 inch ginger 3 lemon grass 1 inch galangal Method Heat the shredded coconut in a dry wok, stirring continuously until golden brown. New Year, New Blog.

I am sort of rusty when it comes to blogging. I used to blog a lot when I was in high school and really almost all through undergrad and post grad school. I was never really good at it. I hardly had anything really interesting to say. And if I did, I rarely really wrote about it. I was too scared that I would upset people, mostly friends and family. But…due to recent events I am going to try to not do that. Censor myself for the benefit of others. Needless to say, it’s not like I have much to censor anyway. Most of the stuff I plan to write or want to write about this year will mostly be about my day-today boring suburban life.
