Pegedil/Begedil is a Malay name for mashed potato shaped into patties, coated with eggs and fried. It’s a popular side snack sold everywhere at Malay hawker stalls or food courts in Malaysia and Singapore. It is also one of my all-time favorite comfort food, and one of my favorites dishes to serve to people, because it’s just so good, everyone loves it. Ingredients: 4 large potatoes – skin peeled, sliced, fried and mashed 3 spring onions, sliced 2 tbsp fried shallots 150g minced beef – fry till beef is cooked Salt and pepper to taste 1 egg, beaten Oil for frying Method: Mix together mashed potatoes, spring onions, fried shallots and cooked minced beef. Season with salt and pepper. Shape into golf balls. Heat oil to medium-high heat. Coat patties in egg and fry a few at a time.... Permalink
